How much does Google Ads cost in Mexico? What you pay Google and what you pay the agency
Google Ads comes with two separate bills: ad spend, which goes straight to Google, and management, which is the agency's work. What a click costs in Mexico according to Google's Keyword Planner, how to work out your budget and what management should include.
When someone asks how much Google Ads costs, they're almost always mixing two things. One is ad spend: the money Google charges you for each click on your ad. The other is management: what the agency or person who builds and looks after your campaigns charges. They're two separate bills, paid to two different parties, and they're worth reviewing separately. If someone quotes you "Google Ads for $X a month" without splitting one from the other, you don't know how much of your money actually reaches Google.
The two costs: ad spend and management
Ad spend works as an auction. You set a daily budget and a per-click cap, and Google only charges you when someone clicks. According to Google Ads Help on actual cost per click, what you pay is usually less than your cap: you pay the minimum needed to beat the advertiser ranked just below you. The budget also has a rule that surprises many people: per the average daily budget definition, Google may spend more than your daily budget on a given day, but over the month it won't charge you more than that average times the days in the month. Add the VAT shown on your invoice on top of ad spend.
Management is the human work: choosing the searches, writing the ads, setting up conversions, cleaning out useless searches every week and deciding what to change based on the data. A campaign without management keeps spending; it just spends worse.
What a click costs in Mexico
There's no single price: every search has its own auction. These are the top-of-page bid ranges Google's Keyword Planner gives for Mexico, with data from September 2025 to August 2026. The low number is what the cheapest advertisers still showing at the top pay; the high one is what the most aggressive competitors pay.
| Search (in Spanish) | Top-of-page bid (MXN per click) |
|---|---|
| página web (website) | $9 – $60 |
| diseño web (web design) | $12 – $50 |
| diseño de páginas web (website design) | $15 – $73 |
| marketing digital (digital marketing) | $15 – $50 |
| chatbot whatsapp | $23 – $93 |
| crm inmobiliario (real estate CRM) | $24 – $102 |
| crm | $28 – $165 |
| whatsapp business api | $34 – $139 |
| crm whatsapp | $56 – $276 |
Notice the pattern: the more a customer is worth to the advertiser, the more expensive the search. A CRM is paid for every month for years, so the companies selling it are willing to pay far more per click than someone selling a website. The same happens in your field. Price also shifts with the city, the time of day, the season and the quality of your ad and page: a slow page, or one that doesn't say what the ad says, makes you pay more for the same spot.
How to work out your ad budget
- List the searches that actually carry buying intent, with your city or specialty. "Web design Playa del Carmen" brings customers; "what is web design" brings students.
- Look up their cost-per-click range in the Keyword Planner and take a midpoint, not the minimum.
- Estimate how many clicks you need to get one contact. If you have no history, use a cautious assumption and correct it with the first month's real data.
- Multiply: cost per click × clicks per contact × contacts you want per month.
An example, just to illustrate the math: if a click costs you $30 on average and your page turns one in 20 clicks into a message, each contact costs about $600 in ad spend. Ten contacts a month would be around $6,000 plus VAT. If your page improves and converts one in 10, the same budget gets you twice as many. That's why the landing page matters as much as the campaign.
What an agency charges for management
Mexico has no public reference rate: each agency quotes its own way. The three most common models are a flat monthly fee, a percentage of your ad spend, or a mix of both. As an international reference, US agency OuterBox reports in its PPC management pricing guide that the percentage model usually lands between 10% and 20% of monthly spend, almost always with a minimum fee. That percentage has an obvious problem: the agency earns more when you spend more, whether or not it's good for you.
What should drive the management price is the work, not your budget: how many campaigns and services need covering, whether conversions must be set up from scratch, whether the landing page needs fixing and how often the account is reviewed. Before comparing quotes, check that they include the same things:
- Keyword research with data for your city, not templates.
- Conversions set up: forms, calls and WhatsApp clicks.
- Weekly review of search terms and negative keywords.
- A landing page review, because cost per click depends on it.
- A monthly report in pesos showing what each contact cost.
Signs you're overpaying
- Your report talks about clicks and impressions, but not contacts or cost per contact.
- Search terms include "free", "course", "jobs" or your competitor's name.
- Nobody can tell you how many WhatsApp messages came from the ads.
- The ads send people to your home page instead of the page for the service being advertised.
- You're asked for a one-year contract before seeing any results.
How we charge
You pay ad spend directly to Google, from an account in your business's name. We quote management per account, after a call where we review your field, your city, how many campaigns make sense and the state of your page. We don't publish a fixed rate because two accounts almost never need the same work. We work month to month.
- How much does a Google Ads click cost in Mexico?
- It depends on the search. According to Google's Keyword Planner, showing at the top for "página web" (website) costs between $9 and $60 MXN per click, and for "crm" between $28 and $165 MXN. The more a customer is worth in that field, the more expensive the click.
- How much should I invest in Google Ads per month?
- Multiply the cost per click of your searches by the clicks you need for one contact and by the contacts you want per month. The sensible approach is to start with one campaign, measure for a few weeks and grow only what works.
- Should the agency charge a percentage of ad spend?
- It's a common model, but it means the agency earns more when you spend more. A fee for the work, with ad spend paid directly to Google from your own account, makes it clearer what you're paying for.
