Online store and digital payments for SMBs in México
Online stores, catalogs with payments, integrations with Stripe, Mercado Pago and Conekta, OXXO Pay, SPEI and automatic CFDI 4.0. We sell online for Mexican SMBs — and for their US customers.
According to the **AMVO 2025 Online Sales Study**, e-commerce in México closed the year at **$941 billion MXN**, growing **+19.2% YoY**, and México moved up to **8th place worldwide** in e-commerce share of total retail. Buen Fin 2025 broke records again with +31% online sales. The opportunity keeps growing faster than in any other Latin American market.
In México, what kills conversions is not design — it's the wrong payment gateway. If you sell to tourists or US customers, you need **Stripe** (USD, international cards). If you sell to Mexicans, **interest-free installments (MSI)** triple the average ticket and are native in Mercado Pago and Conekta. If you sell to people without cards, **OXXO Pay and SPEI** are mandatory — 32% of online payments in México are still cash or bank transfer. We help you pick the right mix for your market, not the one that pays the agency more commission.
E-commerce and payment solutions
We combine sales platform, payment gateways, and CFDI 4.0 invoicing in a single flow. These are the most common modules:
Full online store
Store with catalog, cart, checkout, and integrated gateways. We implement on Shopify (fastest and most stable option), headless with Next.js + Stripe (maximum speed and custom design), or custom development when the business case justifies it.
For retail, fashion, home decor, F&B, and D2C brands.
Catalog with payments
Browseable catalog + payment link at the end, without full checkout. Ideal when products are configurable, prices vary by customer, or you only need to charge a deposit. Simpler and cheaper than a full store.
For B2B, wholesalers, custom products, tour operators.
Stripe integration
Stripe in MXN or USD, with international cards, recurring subscriptions, and interest-free installments (3, 6, 9, 12 months) enabled. 2025 fee in México: **3.6% + $3 MXN** per transaction. Best option if you sell to US/Canada or need SaaS subscriptions.
For SaaS, brands with US clients, vacation rentals serving tourists.
Mercado Pago integration
The #1 gateway in México for selling to Mexicans. **OXXO Pay, SPEI, and interest-free installments native** without extra setup. Fees from 3.5% + VAT. Essential if your end customer is Mexican — converts 25-40% better than Stripe in this market.
For national retail, restaurants, gyms, B2C e-commerce.
Conekta integration
100% Mexican gateway with real-human Spanish tech support (not a chatbot). Accepts cards, OXXO Pay, and SPEI with competitive fees. The option we recommend when the client wants to talk to a real person if something fails on a Sunday.
For SMBs that value local support, professional firms, high-ticket commerce.
Reservations with deposit
40/60 payment flow: we charge the deposit on booking, auto-generate the balance invoice, and send reminders before the event or stay. Pattern proven in vacation rentals, event rentals, and tours.
For vacation rentals, event rentals, tour operators, photographers.
Automatic CFDI 4.0 invoicing
Integration with **Facturapi, gigstack, or Fiscalapi** to automatically issue CFDI 4.0 invoices when payment is received. The customer enters their RFC, legal name, tax regime, and CFDI use at checkout — the invoice is generated, stamped at SAT, and emailed without your team touching anything.
For any business invoicing in México that doesn't want to enter data manually into SAT.
Automatic payment notifications
When a payment comes in, automatically: 1) confirmation to customer with purchase detail and invoice, 2) internal team alert via email + Slack/WhatsApp, 3) update in your CRM or admin panel. If a payment fails, you find out too — and the customer is offered to retry with another method.
For any business with 10+ orders per month that doesn't want to check the dashboard every hour.
Square integration
If your physical business already uses **Square** for POS (Square Reader, Square Stand), we can unify online + in-person under the same Square dashboard. Synced inventory, unified reports, competitive fees for small tickets. Best for cafés, boutique retail and professional services with tipping.
For physical-POS businesses already using Square.
PayPal integration
PayPal is still the preferred method for many international buyers (especially USA and Europe). We add it as an additional option so you don't lose the sale when the customer trusts PayPal more than local gateways. Useful for vacation rentals, e-commerce with binational audience, and export services.
For businesses with international clients or receiving USD payments.
Down payments
Different from booking deposits (which confirm a reservation), **down payments** are for custom services or products: charge 30-50% at contract signing, the rest on delivery. Useful for wedding photography, events, made-to-order manufacturing, consultancies. Customer pays online, automation issues a CFDI for advance payment with the correct type, and the balance is charged automatically on the agreed date.
For custom B2B services and made-to-order manufacturing in México.
Why launch your online store with GrowFlow
Store + payments + CFDI + reservations in one place
No competitor packages all four. Platforms like Shopify don't invoice in México, accountants don't integrate payments, agencies don't understand SAT. We do — that's why your end-to-end flow stays in a single conversation.
Modern stack: Shopify or headless
For standard stores we use Shopify (the most stable option). For maximum speed and custom design, headless with Next.js + Stripe on Vercel. No WordPress / WooCommerce — slow, fragile, and insecure in production.
Support when something breaks in production
A gateway can go down on Buen Fin at 11pm. If a webhook fails, an invoice doesn't stamp, a customer disputes a double charge — we respond. Real support, not a ticket answered in 5 business days.
CFDI 4.0 without you dealing with SAT
We set up Facturapi, gigstack, or Fiscalapi so every sale auto-generates its CFDI 4.0 with RFC, tax regime, and CFDI use captured at checkout. Your accountant gets the XML directly — you don't touch the SAT portal.
FAQs about online stores and payments in México
- How much does it cost to build an online store in México?
- Depends on the approach. A standard Shopify with configured theme and 1 gateway starts at **$25,000-$45,000 MXN**. A Shopify with custom design, multi-gateway, and CFDI 4.0 runs **$60,000-$120,000 MXN**. Headless with Next.js + Stripe and a large catalog runs **$120,000-$280,000 MXN**. You add the monthly Shopify plan ($29 USD/mo basic) or Vercel Pro hosting ($20 USD/mo) depending on the option.
- What's the difference between Stripe, Mercado Pago, and Conekta?
- **Stripe** is global, ideal for selling to US/Canada, SaaS subscriptions, and maximum technical flexibility — but support is email-only in English. **Mercado Pago** is the #1 gateway in México for selling to Mexicans, with native OXXO/SPEI/MSI and better local conversion — but it has longer holds (up to 14 days) and a less polished dashboard. **Conekta** is the Mexican option with human Spanish support and competitive fees — the favorite when the client wants to talk to a real person. Common combo: Stripe + Mercado Pago in the same checkout.
- What are the fees for each gateway in 2025?
- **Stripe MX**: 3.6% + $3 MXN per domestic card transaction, 4.4% + $3 MXN international. **Mercado Pago**: from 3.5% + VAT (varies by payout plan). **Conekta**: from 2.9% + $2.50 MXN (negotiable by volume). **OXXO Pay** (via MP or Conekta): ~$7-10 MXN flat per transaction. **SPEI**: $4-8 MXN flat. Interest-free installments add 4-9% depending on month count — you can absorb that fee or pass it to the customer.
- How do you integrate OXXO Pay and SPEI in a store?
- Both methods are enabled inside Mercado Pago, Conekta, or Stripe — they're not standalone gateways. When the customer picks OXXO, a **payment voucher** (reference + barcode) is generated and paid at any OXXO store within 24-72 hours. When they pick SPEI, a **CLABE bank reference** is generated for transfer. In both cases, the webhook notifies us when money arrives and we trigger confirmation + invoice automatically. Important: the order should NOT ship until the payment confirmation arrives.
- How do you automatically invoice with CFDI 4.0?
- We integrate one of these SAT-authorized PACs: **Facturapi, gigstack, or Fiscalapi**. At checkout, the customer enters RFC, legal name, tax regime (612, 626, 601, etc.), and CFDI use (G03 general expenses, P01 to be defined, etc.). When the gateway webhook confirms payment, our backend calls the PAC, generates the CFDI 4.0, stamps it at SAT, and emails the XML + PDF to the customer. If the RFC is invalid, the system warns before charging.
- Shopify, WooCommerce, or custom development — which fits me?
- **Shopify** is the default if you sell standard physical products — stable, fast to launch, huge app ecosystem. **WooCommerce** we avoid: depends on WordPress, inherits speed and security issues, CFDI plugins are fragile. **Custom development (headless with Next.js + Stripe)** we recommend when you have a unique flow (reservations with deposit, complex subscriptions, product configurator, B2B catalog with per-customer pricing) that Shopify doesn't solve well. For 80% of cases, Shopify wins on cost-benefit.
- How do we charge a deposit (40/60 split)?
- Pattern proven in vacation rentals and event rentals: we charge **40% deposit** at booking via Stripe or Mercado Pago. When payment confirms via webhook, we auto-generate the **60% balance invoice** (payment link + due date). Automatic reminders 7, 3, and 1 day before due. If the customer doesn't pay the balance, the system marks the reservation as canceled and frees the date in the calendar. The entire flow runs on autopilot.
- Does Stripe accept interest-free installments (MSI) in México?
- Yes. Since 2024 Stripe MX supports native interest-free installments at **3, 6, 9, and 12 months** with eligible cards from major Mexican banks (Banamex, BBVA, Banorte, Santander, HSBC). Additional fees: 4% (3 mo), 7% (6 mo), 8% (9 mo), 9% (12 mo). You can absorb the fee (better conversion) or pass it to the customer (better margin). For tickets above $3,000 MXN, installments typically triple conversion — worth enabling always.
